English Premier League side Chelsea have won the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, defeating UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in a dominant final performance at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Cole Palmer was the star of the match, scoring a brace and assisting Joao Pedro in a one-sided first half that sealed the victory for the London club. It was the first expanded edition of FIFA’s Club World Cup, and Chelsea emerged victorious in front of over 81,000 fans, including U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Palmer opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after a defensive blunder by Nuno Mendes, capitalizing on a rebound to end PSG’s streak of 436 minutes without conceding. Just eight minutes later, he netted his second in a clinical finish after receiving a long ball from Levi Colwill and cutting inside past a defender. In the 43rd minute, Palmer played a perfect through pass to Joao Pedro, who chipped PSG’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to make it 3-0 before halftime.

“It’s a great feeling. Even better, because everyone doubted us before the game. We knew we had to put up a fight against a great team,” said Palmer, who was named player of the match. The 23-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, scored 18 goals across all competitions this season.
PSG, who had entered the final on a high after securing the Ligue 1 title, Coupe de France, and their first UEFA Champions League crown, appeared off the pace and lacked the sharpness Chelsea displayed. Their fatigue was evident, having played their semifinal with one less day of rest than Chelsea. Despite their firepower and having outscored opponents 16-1 before the final, they failed to break through Chelsea’s backline.
The match ended with more frustration for the French side as João Neves received a red card in the 84th minute for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair. Tensions flared further when PSG’s coach, Luis Enrique, and goalkeeper Donnarumma confronted Joao Pedro in a scuffle near midfield, needing officials to intervene.

The win marks Chelsea’s second Club World Cup title, following their triumph in 2021 when the tournament featured only seven teams. This time, they lifted the trophy in a much-expanded format, further affirming their global credentials. The Blues finished fourth in the 2024/25 Premier League and also claimed the UEFA Conference League title, wrapping up the season with silverware and renewed momentum heading into the 2025/26 campaign.
According to reports, Chelsea is expected to earn between $128.4 million and $153.8 million in prize money, depending on participation fees yet to be confirmed by FIFA.
