DJ Switch Responds to Buhari’s Death, Says He Destroyed Nigeria
DJ Switch’s reaction to Buhari’s death has ignited fierce debate, with many calling her post insensitive.
She stood by her comments, saying bad leaders deserve no sympathy in death.
Nigerian DJ and activist DJ Switch has sparked heated controversy with her reaction to the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
Shortly after the news broke, DJ Switch took to her Instagram story to post a cryptic yet scathing message:
“The sweet reality of inevitability. RIP MF. One down.”

The post, widely interpreted as celebratory and laced with disdain, sparked outrage across social media, with many accusing her of lacking compassion and disrespecting the dead.
Unfazed by the backlash, DJ Switch released a follow-up video doubling down on her position. In it, she challenged those mourning the former leader, questioning what positive legacy Buhari had left behind.
“Please tell me what is Buhari’s achievement apart from destroying Nigeria,” she said. “When you are a bad leader, people will drink to your demise, but when you lead with fairness, people will mourn when you die.”
She went on to say,
“I don’t need to prove my empathy to anybody. When I saw that news, it was like justice. Next on the list, T-Pain, how far?”
The “T-Pain” reference, though unclear, drew further reactions, with some speculating it may have been sarcastic or directed at another public figure.
DJ Switch, who became globally known for her live-stream coverage of the #EndSARS protest at Lekki Toll Gate in 2020, has remained one of the fiercest critics of Nigerian governance, particularly under Buhari’s administration. Over the years, she has consistently used her platform to speak against police brutality, corruption, and bad leadership.
While some Nigerians applauded her boldness, others condemned her remarks as distasteful, arguing that regardless of political differences, death should be met with dignity.
