Founder of Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries, Apostle Helen Ukpabio, has cautioned Christians to stay away from popular celebration days such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Children’s Day.

In a recent message, the evangelist described these celebrations as modern day idolatry, claiming they are rooted in ancient pagan traditions.

Ukpabio argued that many believers unknowingly participate in idol worship by observing such celebrations, which she believes are part of a subtle deception by the devil.

“The Bible already warned us,” she said, pointing to the book of Acts for reference.

She questioned the origin of the holidays, explaining that in the past, those who worshipped idols observed similar days as sacred. According to her, such days were treated as taboo periods where no work was done, and rituals, including gift exchanges, were performed.

“You keep saying Happy Mother’s Day, Happy Father’s Day… From what platform?” she asked.

Ukpabio added:

“The history of paganism has it that (for) those who serve those idols, these idols kept those days as their taboos days as their holidays. In such days they don’t go to farm, they don’t do anything but they exchange gifts and do all other rituals.”

She also emphasized that parents and loved ones should be celebrated daily, not just on a specific date.

“You owe your parents every day… then why do you have to keep a specific day, think,” she insisted. “Not just one day.”

Apostle Ukpabio concluded her warning by reminding Christians of the serious consequences of idolatry.

“You should understand that the Bible does not want you to be an idolater because the penalty is grave,” she said.
