Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has been buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, in a quiet and dignified ceremony that followed Islamic traditions and featured military tributes.

The late leader was laid to rest in the courtyard of his private home after Janazah prayers were offered at a temporary prayer ground near the residence. The service drew a large crowd of mourners, including his family members, traditional rulers, political figures, and citizens from different parts of the country.

Buhari’s body, wrapped in the green, white, and green Nigerian flag, was carried by uniformed pallbearers to the burial site. Soldiers stood in formation to honor him, and a military band played solemn tunes before a round of gun salutes was performed to mark his passing.
The mood in Daura was one of silence and respect, as many reflected on Buhari’s long years in service to the nation. He first led Nigeria as a military ruler between 1983 and 1985, and later returned as a civilian president from 2015 to 2023.

His remains were flown from London to Katsina and received by President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Dikko Radda, and other high-ranking officials before being escorted to Daura under tight security.
