Landmark Africa Begins N10 Billion Overhaul of Enugu’s Nike Lake Resort
Landmark Africa has begun a ₦10 billion renovation of Nike Lake Resort to boost Enugu tourism.
The project includes modern rooms, villas, and lounges, aiming to revive the iconic destination.
Landmark Africa has officially commenced the renovation of the iconic Nike Lake Resort in Enugu, marking the start of a multi-billion-naira transformation aimed at repositioning the facility as a premier tourism and hospitality destination in Nigeria.

The N10 billion redevelopment stems from a landmark joint venture agreement signed in January 2025 between the Enugu State Government and Landmark Africa. As part of the deal, the state provided the 150-hectare lakeside property, while Landmark secured a 35-year lease to manage, operate, and revamp the resort.
A video posted on the official X account of Landmark Nike Lake Resort Enugu on Tuesday offered a first look at ongoing works. Project team members, including the project manager and lead interior designers, walked viewers through the upgrades already underway.
According to the team, Phase A of the renovation is now 50% complete. Updates so far include the removal of outdated elements such as old television sets and bulky bed frames, and a reimagining of room layouts to improve functionality and enhance the aesthetic.
“We’ve completed about 50% of the project,” said one of the interior designers. “We took out the old fittings and replaced them with modern installations aligned with our new design concept.”
The bathrooms were among the first areas to be tackled, where spatial limitations necessitated significant restructuring. A project contributor noted that walls had to be torn down to increase usable space, with gypsum board ceilings now installed and painting set to begin imminently.
“We broke the old toilet walls and introduced a dwarf wall to make way for a full-height glass feature. The idea is to make it simple and classy without overdoing the décor,” she added.
The initial phase of the project will include a comprehensive overhaul of existing hotel rooms and expansion of facilities to include waterfront villas, beach lounges, dining outlets, a golf course, a kids’ park, and other modern amenities. Landmark says the vision is to offer guests a serene yet luxurious experience surrounded by nature, suitable for both relaxation and business travel.
This redevelopment marks a strategic shift for Landmark Africa, following the demolition of its Lagos beachfront resort in 2024 to accommodate the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. The demolition prompted Landmark to diversify its investment footprint across Nigeria and beyond.
Following an influx of proposals from governors in 12 states, the company selected Enugu and Rivers as its first two confirmed expansion sites. In Rivers State, Landmark signed a separate agreement to redevelop the Port Harcourt Tourist Beach. That project was initially scheduled for a 2025 rollout, although no new updates have been released as of July.
For Enugu, the revival of the Nike Lake Resort, long regarded as one of the state’s key hospitality assets, signals a renewed commitment to boosting tourism and attracting private sector investment. The project is expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs during and after construction, while also enhancing the city’s appeal as a leisure and conference destination.
