Gunmen invaded Zagami village in Katsina State, unleashing terror and abducting several residents overnight.
A newborn was killed in the chaos as villagers fled amid heavy gunfire.
Suspected bandits attacked Zagami village in the Yankara Ward of Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State, on Wednesday night, leaving several people dead and many others kidnapped.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community around 8:00pm and began shooting randomly, causing panic among residents. Security analyst Bakatsine shared details of the incident on Thursday via social media, confirming that a three-day-old baby lost its life during the chaos. The baby’s mother was also taken away by the armed men.
While the full number of victims is yet to be confirmed, witnesses said the violence was one of the worst they had experienced in recent times.
As of now, authorities have not released an official report on the incident. However, residents are urging security agencies to step in and help restore peace in the area before more lives are lost.
