David Umar Gurada has rejected claims by Gabriel Zock that he misused a N100 million fund.
He challenged Zock to present proof, insisting no wrongdoing occurred during his time in office.
Former House of Representatives member, David Umar Gurada, has denied claims that he misappropriated N100 million earmarked for people in his Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in Kaduna State.
The allegation was made by the current representative of the constituency, Gabriel Saleh Zock, during a community event held on Thursday. Zock accused his predecessor of diverting a federal intervention fund that was intended to help ease economic difficulties faced by the residents.
However, Gurada has dismissed the accusation, describing it as baseless and without evidence. He insisted that Zock had no facts to support his claim and challenged him to present concrete proof if he believed there was wrongdoing.
“He was not a member of the House at the time, so he does not understand how these things are handled,” Gurada said. “If he truly has any evidence, he should take it to the proper authorities. He knows that the money came through the National Assembly. If anything was done wrong, it is the same National Assembly that would investigate and take action.”
Zock had said the funds were part of a federal government initiative under President Bola Tinubu’s administration to reduce the impact of economic challenges across the country. He claimed that both official communication from the House and feedback from people in the constituency pointed to the alleged diversion.
“I have promised to ensure that anything meant for our people reaches them,” Zock stated. “I know that I will one day give account before God, so I am committed to honesty and fairness.”
Zock reassured his constituents that he would continue to serve them with transparency and integrity, and that he would make sure every intervention or benefit meant for them is delivered properly.
