Tinubu Meets Senate President Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno at Presidential Villa

Tinubu meets Akpabio and Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Talk focused on working together for development despite political differences, sources suggest.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday welcomed the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja for a private meeting.

Although the exact details of their discussion were not made public, the closed-door session is believed to be part of the President’s ongoing engagement with top political figures and state governors across the country. These meetings are aimed at strengthening cooperation between the federal government and the states, especially at a time when national development and economic reforms are top priorities.

Governor Umo Eno, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was accompanied to the meeting by Senate President Akpabio, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Akwa Ibom State. Two other prominent politicians from the state also joined the delegation.

The visit raised interest among observers given the political differences between Eno and Akpabio. However, the presence of both leaders at the Presidential Villa signals a possible alignment on matters of governance and development for Akwa Ibom. President Tinubu has repeatedly emphasized the need for unity and collaboration across party lines to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

While addressing the media shortly after the meeting, neither Akpabio nor Eno disclosed the full content of their conversation with the President. However, sources close to the meeting suggest that discussions may have included issues of infrastructure development, federal support for state projects, and political cooperation ahead of future national engagements.
