Yusuf Buhari thanks President Tinubu for honoring his late father with a state burial.
He expressed deep gratitude during a special FEC session attended by family and dignitaries.
Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has extended heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for giving his father a dignified state funeral.
He made this known on Thursday during a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) session held in Abuja to honor the late leader.
Yusuf, who attended the gathering alongside his siblings, expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu and his team for their unwavering support during the family’s time of grief.
He also thanked members of the National Assembly, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, other state governors, and citizens across the country for the solidarity shown to the Buhari family.
“It has shown that he (Buhari) was regarded far more than a politician, but regarded as a friend and a father. To all members of the Federal Executive Council, for the care and befitting burial accorded to our late father, we appreciate you all,” Yusuf said.
He continued, “I also wish to thank the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and all the distinguished and honorable members of the National Assembly for honoring the memory of our late father during the state burial in Daura.
“Your visits, calls, and prayers symbolize a great honor to the memory of our late father, and we’re sincerely grateful for all the support and solidarity extended to the family. May Allah continue to bless us all.”
Choking back emotion, Yusuf ended his speech by saying, “Thank you, daddy. Thank you, Daddy. Thank you, Daddy. May Allah continue to bless, provide, and protect you throughout your tenure.”
Former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away on Sunday at a clinic in London. His remains were flown back to Nigeria and laid to rest in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. President Tinubu was present at the burial ceremony to pay his final respects.
