Speaking on a recent episode of The Culture League podcast, Egbuson recounted how he was shortlisted among the final five contestants to represent Nigeria on the reality show. He had completed all necessary procedures, packed his bags, and even hired a social media manager in preparation only to later find out he wasn’t selected.

“That year, I thought it was my big break,” he said. “But instead of getting into Big Brother Africa, I ended up landing a role on MTV Shuga Naija. And honestly, that show launched my career and made me who I am today.”

The actor, now a prominent figure in Nollywood, said the experience taught him a powerful life lesson that missed opportunities are not always setbacks, but sometimes divine redirections.

“I’ve learned that sometimes, lost opportunities could be a blessing,” he shared. “Some roles I didn’t get may have taken me down the wrong path. When I look at where I am now, I know this is exactly where God wants me to be.”

Egbuson also reflected on how the entertainment industry is full of highs and lows, noting that while others have received opportunities he once desired, he has equally been granted chances others only dreamed of. He urged upcoming talents to stay patient and have faith in the journey, emphasizing that every setback could lead to a greater opportunity.

“If I had gone on Big Brother, maybe the hype would have faded, or I might not have found my place in this industry. Losing out on that opportunity turned out to be one of the best things that happened to me,” he concluded.
