Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered the permanent forfeiture of digital assets valued at $222,729.86 USDT linked to Chinese nationals involved in cybercrime and online fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed this in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the court ruling was delivered on July 21, 2025.

The digital assets were seized from suspects arrested during a large-scale operation dubbed the “Eagle Flush Operation,” which took place on December 10, 2024, in Lagos.

According to the EFCC, the suspects including the Chinese nationals were among 792 individuals arrested for their alleged roles in cryptocurrency scams and online romance fraud schemes.

“The forfeiture order was granted after the EFCC filed an exparte application on July 18, 2025,” the statement read. The motion was filed by the commission’s legal representative, Zeenat Atiku.
