Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo Visits Sanwo-Olu, Hosts Youth Cup Amid Nigeria Switch Speculation
Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo visits Governor Sanwo-Olu, boosting local football and national team buzz.
His Lagos trip includes a youth tournament and hints at possible Super Eagles commitment.
Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo visited Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday. The visit was part of his grassroots football activities in Nigeria and comes as talk continues about a possible switch to play for the Super Eagles.

The 27-year-old, born in London to Nigerian parents, is currently in the country to host the inaugural Tosin Adarabioyo Youth Cup, a grassroots football tournament he is organizing in collaboration with the Lagos State Football Association.

The mini-tournament is set to take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, and will feature four promising local sides: 36 Lions FC, Seamoriow FC, Mavlon FC, and Eko Football Boys. The teams will compete in a knockout format with the aim of unearthing new football talent at the grassroots level.
As part of the event, Adarabioyo will engage directly with young players, host a fan interaction session, and sign autographs. The initiative aims to inspire budding footballers and reinforce connections between Nigerian professionals abroad and their roots.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed admiration for Adarabioyo’s commitment to youth development. In a post shared via his official social media handle, the governor said:
“Tosin Adarabioyo, who plays for Chelsea, stopped by to visit while he’s in Nigeria. It’s always inspiring to meet young Nigerians making their mark internationally, who remain grounded and stay connected to home.”
The center-back, who recently joined Chelsea from Fulham, has previously represented England at youth levels but remains eligible to play for Nigeria’s senior national team. His visit and community involvement have further fueled speculation that he may be considering a switch of allegiance to represent the Super Eagles.
Though no official decision has been announced, Nigerian football fans have welcomed the possibility of Adarabioyo bolstering the national defense line, especially as the team prepares for major international competitions.
