Tinubu Meets APC Governors Ahead of NEC Decision on New Party Chairman
Tinubu meets APC governors in Abuja to talk about party leadership before NEC meeting.
The party may name a new chairman after Ganduje stepped down from the position.
President Bola Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday night.

The meeting comes just hours before the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, which is expected to focus on selecting a new National Chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje last month.
Tinubu is believed to have used the gathering to share his thoughts with the governors regarding the party’s leadership direction ahead of the NEC session.
Since Ganduje’s resignation, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, has been overseeing the chairman’s responsibilities in an acting capacity.
While some party members expect the NEC to confirm Dalori in the role and give him a period to organise a national convention to elect a substantive chairman, others believe Tinubu might push for the immediate selection of a permanent replacement during the meeting.
