Confusion as Akpabio Talks About Tinubu’s Burial During Senate Speech
Senate President Akpabio mistakenly says President Tinubu was buried, triggering shock and online uproar.
He meant to reference Buhari’s funeral, but the slip caused instant reactions across social media.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has sparked widespread reactions following a major blunder during a plenary session at the National Assembly, where he mistakenly referred to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as deceased.
In a video posted by AIT on X, Akpabio, while addressing the Senate, intended to refer to the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on July 13, 2025, in a London clinic. However, he mistakenly mentioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu instead.
“The whole country is very proud of what this administration has done, in the way and manner President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was honored and was buried,” Akpabio said, drawing audible reactions from the chamber.
The blunder quickly spread online as users reacted with shock, memes, and criticism. Many pointed out how serious the mistake was since Tinubu is the sitting president.
