Nigerian music superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has reached another historic milestone, becoming the first African artiste to surpass 9 billion streams on Spotify across all credits.

This latest achievement further cements Wizkid’s position as a global Afrobeats pioneer and one of Africa’s most successful music exports.
Wizkid’s highest-streamed song on Spotify is the global hit “One Dance”, a collaboration with Canadian rapper Drake and British artist Kyla, which has amassed an impressive 3.7 billion streams. The track ranks among Spotify’s top 10 most-streamed songs of all time and holds a Guinness World Record as the first single to exceed 1 billion streams on the platform.
As a lead artist, his most-streamed solo track is “Essence” featuring Tems, which has garnered over 303 million streams further highlighting his worldwide appeal and massive fanbase.
While Wizkid sets records for African artists, American pop icon Taylor Swift remains Spotify’s most streamed artist overall, with over 1.5 billion streams.
