Singer Hamisu Breaker and TikTok star G Fresh have been sentenced for abusing the naira.
Both pleaded guilty and were fined ₦200,000 or face five months in prison.
Popular Hausa singer Hamisu Breaker and TikTok influencer Abubakar Ibrahim, also known as G Fresh, have been taken to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly abusing the Nigerian naira.
They were arraigned before Justice Sale Musa Shuaibu at the Federal High Court in Kano. After the charges were read, both entertainers pleaded guilty. Following their admission, the court sentenced them to five months in prison or an option of a ₦200,000 fine each.
According to the EFCC, Hamisu Breaker was accused of spraying ₦200 notes amounting to ₦30,000 during a party in Hadejia, Jigawa State.Likewise, G Fresh was charged for spraying bundles of ₦1,000 notes during a shop opening event in Tarauni, Kano State.
Their conviction comes amid EFCC’s continued clampdown on the abuse of the naira, especially at social gatherings.
