Imo Police Confirm Deadly Attack by Gunmen in Arondizuogu, Seven Feared Dead

Gunmen stormed three Imo communities, killing seven and injuring many in a shocking daytime attack.

Police say calm has returned as tactical teams search for suspects behind the deadly assault.

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed a deadly attack by unidentified gunmen in three communities Ndi-Ejezie, Umualaoma, and Ndiakuwata Uno all located in Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area of the state.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, July 25, reportedly left at least seven people dead and several others injured. Witnesses said the assailants arrived in large numbers and opened fire on residents. Graphic videos circulating online showed the bodies of victims lying in pools of blood.

Reacting to the violence, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, described the assault as “barbaric, inhumane, and totally unacceptable.” He assured the public that the Command has deployed both intelligence and tactical teams to identify and arrest the attackers.

CP Danjuma personally led a tactical unit in a combing operation of the affected communities and confirmed that the situation has now been brought under control. He said proactive security steps have also been taken to prevent further violence and restore peace to the area.

The Commissioner extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased. He also wished the injured a speedy recovery and urged the bereaved families to remain strong during this difficult time.
