Peter Obi Replies Okpebholo: I’m Not Afraid to Visit Any State in Nigeria
Peter Obi has declared he can visit any state without fear or political approval.
He stated this in Onitsha while donating ₦50 million to Christ the King College.
Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said he is not afraid to visit any part of Nigeria. He made this known on Thursday during an event in Onitsha, Anambra State, where he donated ₦50 million to Christ the King College (CKC), his alma mater.
Obi’s comment came in response to a statement reportedly made by the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, who said that Obi must get clearance before visiting Edo. Obi dismissed the remark, saying his visit to any state is always to support meaningful causes, not for politics.

“I am not afraid of visiting any state in Nigeria, especially when I’m there to support things that help the country grow, like education, healthcare, and fighting poverty,” he said.
He also addressed the controversy surrounding his recent visit to Benin City, saying the trip was focused on improving healthcare and not politically motivated. Obi explained that his goal was to support the development of better medical services in the state.
“I went to Benin to help improve people’s lives. If we have well-trained doctors and nurses, the quality of life will improve. The governor should support efforts that build a better society,” he added.
During the Onitsha event, the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, praised Obi and other CKC alumni for their continued investment in education. The school’s Senior Prefect, Ejike Ekene, also described Obi as a role model and thanked him for his generosity.
