The Spanish giants view the 29-year-old as a long-term replacement in central midfield.

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to table a massive £100 million offer for Manchester City’s influential midfielder, Rodri, according to emerging reports from Spain and England. The La Liga champions see the 29-year-old Spaniard as the ideal long-term replacement for veteran midfielders Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos.

Rodri, widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in world football, has been central to Manchester City’s dominance in recent years under Pep Guardiola. His composure, passing range, and ability to control the tempo of games have made him indispensable to City’s midfield structure.

The Spain international played a pivotal role in City’s treble-winning 2022–23 season and remains one of their most consistent performers. He was also named UEFA’s Player of the Match in the 2023 Champions League final against Inter Milan.

Real Madrid’s interest is believed to be driven by a desire to maintain their dominance in both Spain and Europe by reinforcing their midfield with top-tier talent. With Kroos retiring this summer and Modrić expected to take a reduced role, Madrid’s recruitment strategy appears to be focused on players in their prime who can lead the next era.

However, Manchester City is unlikely to entertain any bids for Rodri. The midfielder is under a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium, and Guardiola has previously described him as “undroppable.” It remains to be seen whether the Premier League champions would even consider negotiations at any price point.

Rodri joined Manchester City from Atlético Madrid in 2019 for a then-club record £62.8 million. Since then, he has grown into one of the most complete midfielders in the world.

For now, Real Madrid’s intent signals a potential blockbuster transfer window ahead, but prising Rodri away from Manchester City may prove to be a monumental challenge even with a £100 million offer.
