Ododo Signs Seven New Bills into Law, Pledges Sustainable Growth for Kogi

Governor Usman Ododo has signed seven new laws to boost development and governance in Kogi.

He said the laws reflect a commitment to inclusive and people-focused progress.

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his commitment to steering the state toward sustainable development through inclusive, people-oriented policies.

Speaking during the signing ceremony of seven recently passed bills, Governor Ododo described the legislative move as a significant milestone for the state’s advancement. The event, held at the Government House in Lokoja, was attended by members of the State House of Assembly, the executive council, and other critical stakeholders.

Among the bills signed into law are the Climate Change Law; a law regulating the operation of heavy-duty trucks within Lokoja during daytime hours; the Commodity Exchange and Export Law; and the law establishing the Kogi State Bureau of Lands.

Others include the repeal of the Kogi State Emergency Management Law; the Kogi State Oil Producing Area Development Commission Law; the repeal of the 2024 Electoral Law; and the enactment of a new 2025 Electoral Law.

Governor Ododo emphasized that the newly signed laws reflect a unified vision to enhance citizens’ welfare and reinforce critical areas of governance and infrastructure.

In his remarks, Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Aliyu Umar, praised the governor for institutionalizing people-first governance and aligning legislation with the aspirations of the people.

Residents have expressed optimism that the new laws will support Kogi’s 32-year development plan and drive inclusive progress across the state.
