Nigeria’s Super Falcons have claimed their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title after a thrilling 3–2 victory over Morocco on Saturday, July 26, 2025.


The match, played in Rabat, saw the Nigerian team come from two goals down to defeat the host nation in a dramatic second-half turnaround. The win cements the Super Falcons’ place as the most successful team in African women’s football.
Morocco stunned fans early by scoring twice in the first half, putting pressure on the Nigerian side heading into the break. However, the Super Falcons returned stronger in the second half and turned the tide of the game.
Esther Okoronkwo sparked the comeback in the 64th minute with a calm finish to reduce the deficit. Just minutes later, Okoronkwo danced past Moroccan defenders and provided a fine assist to Folashade Ijamilusi, who struck the equaliser with confidence.
As the clock ticked down and the game looked set for extra time, substitute Jennifer Echegini found the net in the 88th minute. She connected with a powerful long-range freekick from Okoronkwo and calmly slotted in the winning goal, sealing Nigeria’s place at the top once again.
