Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has opened up about the unexpected reason she paused her acting career, revealing that she was placed on a ₦1 million weekly allowance by an anonymous benefactor.

Speaking on the podcast ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’, hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Nkechi disclosed that she took a break from Nollywood because the financial returns from movie roles were no longer sustainable. According to her, the mystery sponsor stepped in during that dry period and offered her steady financial support.

“Someone anonymously put me on a ₦1 million weekly salary because I wasn’t getting paid enough for movie roles, that’s why I took a break from acting,” she said.

The actress explained that producing or starring in films wasn’t always profitable, noting, “I can shoot a movie and might not even make up to ₦1 million profit from it.”

When asked to reveal the identity of the generous sponsor, Nkechi refused, responding bluntly: “It’s not your business.”
