Anambra Govt Offers Free Hernia and Fibroid Surgeries at Okpoko General Hospital

Anambra State is offering free hernia and fibroid surgeries as part of a health outreach led by Mrs. Nonye Soludo.

Screenings begin July 30 at Okpoko General Hospital, with surgeries to follow on a first-come basis.

The Anambra State Ministry of Health has announced a free medical outreach offering hernia and fibroid surgeries to residents of the state. The initiative, which is part of the Health Intervention Program under the guidance of Mrs. Nonye Soludo, is targeted at both adults and children affected by these conditions.

According to the Ministry, free screening, laboratory tests, and documentation for hernia patients will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Okpoko General Hospital. The exercise will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Eligible patients who pass the screening process will undergo free hernia surgery the following day, Thursday, July 31, 2025, starting from 8:30 a.m. Patients are advised to come with a relative or guardian, especially if an overnight stay at the hospital is required.

Additionally, the outreach includes free fibroid surgeries for three selected female patients. The program operates strictly on a first-come, first-served basis and is open exclusively to hernia and fibroid cases.

The Ministry encouraged all affected individuals adults and children alike to take advantage of this opportunity by presenting themselves at Okpoko General Hospital on the scheduled dates.
