Deji Adeyanju Criticizes Obidients, Says 2027 Strategy Must Change
Peter Obi’s humble gesture of serving food stirred debate, drawing praise and sharp criticism online.
While supporters saw servant leadership, activist Deji Adeyanju dismissed it as political theatrics.
A recent social media post highlighting Peter Obi’s humility has sparked mixed reactions, particularly from activist Deji Adeyanju.
The post, shared by Yunusa Tanko, spokesperson for the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council, featured a photo of Obi reportedly serving food to staff and supporters during a recent gathering. Tanko praised the former Anambra governor’s down-to-earth approach and consistent show of servant leadership.
“This is the hallmark of a good and servant leadership, one who serves the people even his staff. It is not for the show, it’s naturally inbuilt… Obidients, let’s stay focused. PO is coming… A New Nigeria is POssible,” Tanko wrote.
However, the gesture didn’t sit well with human rights advocate Deji Adeyanju, who criticized it as performative and lacking substance.
“Is this what we have reduced leadership contest to in Nigeria, bros? Serving food?” Adeyanju wrote in response. “How long do these guys want to continue all these childishness? A 419 strategy that didn’t work in 2023 can’t work in 2027. Change style and strategy.”
