Nigerian music star Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has called on fellow artists to come together and help restore the energy of Afrobeats.
In a post shared on his X (Twitter) page, he wrote, “Anyways let’s make afrobeat great again.”
This comes as the singer continues to rebuild his image in the music scene after being affected by backlash over allegations connected to the death of his former signee, Mohbad.
Although Naira Marley and his associate Sam Larry were linked to the incident, a court recently threw out the case filed by Mohbad’s father, saying there wasn’t enough proof to connect them directly to the singer’s death.
Around the same time, Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae expressed her thoughts on the state of Afrobeats, saying its global rise has slowed down. She also stressed the need for growth and change in African music.
