Tinubu Approves Civil Service Jobs, ₦250,000 Reward for 200 Outstanding Ex-Corps Members
President Tinubu has offered civil service jobs and ₦250,000 each to 200 top NYSC alumni.
Ten injured corps members also got jobs, with all honorees receiving scholarships for postgrad studies.
President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate employment of 200 former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) into the federal civil service. He also awarded each of them ₦250,000 for their exceptional performance during the 2020 to 2023 service years.

The announcement was made during the NYSC Honors Award Ceremony held in Abuja. Representing the President at the event, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, also revealed that 10 physically challenged ex-corps members, who were injured while serving, have been granted automatic employment.
In addition to the cash awards and job placements, all the award recipients will receive scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies at Nigerian universities.
“These individuals have demonstrated commitment, patriotism, and integrity during their service. Their employment process will commence immediately,” President Tinubu stated. He emphasized that youth empowerment remains a top priority for his administration, especially through education, innovation, and job creation.
Among the top male honorees were Nunaya Polycarp, Okpogbo Alvin, Dr. Ugwa Obinna, and Rabiu Quadri. The female awardees included Akase Pati and Igwe Anne.
Also speaking at the event, Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised the President’s continued support for young people. He highlighted the recent increase in NYSC allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 as part of efforts to boost youth welfare and innovation.
NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, noted the positive impact of corps members in key sectors like health, education, voter sensitization, and digital technology. In 2025 alone, over 6,000 medical corps members provided free healthcare to more than 4 million people in rural communities.
Nafiu also said that over 250,000 corps members are trained every year in entrepreneurship and digital skills. He expressed hope that the NYSC Trust Fund Bill, once passed, will provide more post-service support for corps members.
“You no longer wear khaki, but you now carry the pride of a nation that appreciates you,” Nafiu told the awardees.
