Blaqbonez Warns That Streaming Farms Are Destroying Nigerian Music Industry
Blaqbonez raises alarm over fake music streams, says industry may soon face serious fallout.
He warns that charts now reflect money, not talent, and compares it to iTunes in 2000s.
Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, better known as Blaqbonez, has raised alarm over the growing use of streaming farms in the music industry, calling the impact “irreversible.”

The rapper made his concerns public while reacting to a post by fellow artist Magixx, who recently criticized musicians for artificially inflating their streaming numbers using bots and automated systems.
Magixx had posted on X, saying:
“Y’all faking your numbers I hope you sleep well at night… keep deceiving your family members.”
Responding to the post, Blaqbonez agreed with the message and took it a step further, claiming that the manipulation of streaming numbers has inflicted long-term damage on the industry.
“The irreversible damage we done to our industry, one day it’d finally come crumbling down,” he wrote. “For now let’s keep acting like the charts mean anything more than a showcase of the people who can afford to buy it, it’s like iTunes in the 2000s all over again.”
