Edo Government Announces Appointment in Oil and Gas Office
Edo Governor appoints Kasimu Otono as new Oil and Gas Adviser after suspending Felix Isere.
Otono is a lawyer and entrepreneur with experience in real estate and community mobilisation.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Barrister Kasimu Otono as his new Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, following the suspension of Felix Isere.
Isere was removed from office on Tuesday after being accused of soliciting funds without official approval in the name of the Edo State Government. The funds were reportedly intended for a proposed Oil and Gas Summit slated to take place on August 7 in Benin City.
The new appointment was announced on Friday through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.
βIt is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Barr. Kasimu Otono as Special Adviser (Oil and Gas) to the Governor,β the statement read.
The government noted that Otono, a legal practitioner, brings a diverse background to the role. He is also known for his work in real estate, community mobilisation, and philanthropy. Otono is a member of both the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association, and currently serves as the Senior Partner at Kay and Kay Legal, a firm with a strong focus on commercial, real estate, and oil and gas law.
Governor Okpebholo had earlier ordered Isere to return all funds collected from donors and advised the public not to engage in any further transactions with the suspended aide.
