Nigerian Nurses Call Off Strike Following Government Agreement
Nigerian nurses have suspended their nationwide strike after reaching a deal with the government.
Health Minister Ali Pate confirmed the decision following a private meeting held on Friday.
NewsKobo.com earlier reported that the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) had embarked on a nationwide strike.
The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has called off the nationwide strike that began on July 29, 2025.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Health, Ali Pate, after a closed-door meeting held on Friday. He explained that the suspension came after an agreement was reached with the leadership of the nurses’ union.
Although the minister spoke to the press, officials of the association chose not to make any comments following the meeting.
The strike, which involved nurses working in public hospitals across the country, was initially scheduled to run until August 5, 2025.
