The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular Nollywood and Yoruba actress, Omotola Odunsi.
Her passing was confirmed on Thursday, though the circumstances surrounding her death have not yet been disclosed. Omotola was known for her role in the film Lisabi, where she starred alongside renowned actor Lateef Adedimeji.
Heartfelt tributes have started pouring in from colleagues and fans, mourning the loss and celebrating Omotola Odunsi’s contributions to the film industry. Actress Bakare Zainab shared a heartfelt message, writing, “Goodnight. Omotola rest well.”
Ashabi, the mother of singer Portable’s child, also expressed shock over the actress’s sudden death. In a deeply emotional post, she recalled their recent encounter and the plans they had made together.
“Omoh, dis one shock me oooo Aunty Tola. You’re one of the best actors I’m rooting for. Saw you earlier this year when I was shooting Deputy, and we promised to feature each other in our next project. But now you’ve laboured and didn’t wait to reap… Life sef.”
She continued, “I remember nights you would chat with me just to offer hope and advice. Most of your wishes we talked about didn’t even come true. GOD, we can’t question you oooo. Death is deep.”
