Gunmen Attack Tor-Donga Community in Benue, Residents Flee Amid Chaos
Panic erupted in Tor-Donga, Benue State, after gunmen attacked the community at dawn on Friday.
Residents fled as the assailants opened fire, leaving injuries and fear of further violence behind.
Tension gripped Tor-Donga, a community in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, on Friday morning after suspected gunmen launched a surprise attack, leaving residents in panic and disarray.


According to eyewitnesses, the attackers stormed the area at daybreak on motorcycles and began firing indiscriminately, forcing residents to flee for safety. The sudden violence caused people to abandon their homes and belongings in a frantic effort to escape.
“People were running in all directions. We abandoned our homes and properties; everyone just wanted to stay alive,” one survivor recounted.
Although the number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, several people were reportedly injured during the attack. Some individuals remain missing, as families have been separated while seeking shelter.
At the time of filing this report, security operatives had not fully secured the area, raising concerns about the possibility of further attacks.
Local leaders have urged residents to remain calm, stating that investigations are underway and measures are being taken to restore peace. However, the Benue State Police Command has yet to issue an official response.
