PDP to Elect New Leaders in 13 States Starting September 2025

The Peoples Democratic Party is set to elect new leaders in thirteen states beginning this September.

Ward, local and state congresses are scheduled as part of nationwide leadership restructuring efforts.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced dates for its upcoming congresses to elect new party leaders in 13 states across the country.

According to a timetable posted on Friday by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar M. Bature, the elections will be conducted at the ward, local government, and state levels, beginning in September 2025.

The states involved in this process are Adamawa, Borno, Edo, Kebbi, Kwara, Ondo, Oyo, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Plateau, and Cross River.

As part of the preparation, the PDP will begin a membership registration exercise for both old and new members. This registration will run from Friday, August 1 to Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Nomination and ad-hoc forms will be on sale from Monday, August 18 to Friday, August 29. Aspirants are expected to submit their completed forms by Friday, September 5.

According to the schedule, ward congresses to elect ward executives and three ad-hoc delegates will take place on Saturday, September 13. Any complaints arising from these congresses will be reviewed on Wednesday, September 17.

Next, the local government congresses are scheduled for Saturday, September 20. These will produce new LGA executives and national delegates. Appeals regarding these congresses will be addressed on Wednesday, September 24.

Finally, the state congresses will hold on Saturday, September 27, where state executives will be elected. Any issues related to the state-level congresses will be considered on Wednesday, September 30.
