Veteran Singer 9ice Recounts Spiritual Ordeal: “I Vomited Blood for Six Months”
Singer 9ice says he vomited blood for six months in 2009 and found no medical cure.
He claims the illness was spiritual and credits traditional Ifa practices for his full recovery.
Nigerian music star Alexander Adegbola Akande, popularly known as 9ice, has opened up about a mysterious health crisis that he believes was a spiritual attack. The veteran singer revealed he vomited blood continuously for six months in 2009/2010, with no medical explanation or cure.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Nancy Isime Show, he said the troubling episode left him with no choice but to seek help through traditional means after medical solutions failed.
“When I was vomiting blood for about six months in my own house. I had to leave my house. It happened in 2009/2010. It wasn’t a medical condition,” he told the host, Nancy Isime.
9ice explained that it was through Ifa, the Yoruba system of divination, that he finally found relief. He described the experience as his first encounter with Ifa and said he wished he had embraced it earlier.
“The first time I experienced Ifa was when I was vomiting blood. Someone referred me to Ifa. I just wished that I had known Ifa at the beginning,” he said.
The singer, who now identifies as a traditionalist, said he no longer follows Christianity or Islam. “I’m not a Christian or a Muslim, I’m a Babalawo. I’m an African. I’m a traditionalist,” he declared.
Referencing Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, 9ice added: “Fela used to go to Ogun and people were mocking him, but now, I understand.”
He used the platform to encourage a return to African spiritual practices, stressing the need to stop demonizing traditional beliefs.
“It’s time we stopped demonizing our own. Our ancestors were not evil. We need to embrace who we truly are,” 9ice stated.
