Bandits Abduct Five, Steal Cattle in Fresh Zamfara Village Attack

Suspected bandits have kidnapped five people and stolen four cows in Zamfara’s Kasheshi Kura village.

The attack may be linked to a former local vigilante member, with security forces now on high alert.

Suspected bandits have attacked Kasheshi Kura, a village in the Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting five people and stealing four cows.

The attack reportedly occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the incident on Monday via his official X handle. He suggested the assault may be linked to the activities of a local Community Protection Guard (CPG) member, Ibrahim Shaibu, also known as “Gwanda.”

Gwanda, who once worked with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) before their exit from the area, is believed to be a possible target of the attack. Community sources claim the bandits may have launched the assault in retaliation for Gwanda’s past role in security operations against them.

Security forces have reportedly increased surveillance and patrols in nearby communities. Rescue efforts for the kidnapped victims and recovery of the stolen livestock are currently ongoing.
