The decoration ceremony took place on Monday, following the officers’ elevation by the Police Service Commission, based on the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
In total, 1,020 officers received new ranks. Among them was Umar Ahmed Chuso, Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations, who had earlier been promoted to Commissioner of Police by the IGP. Also promoted were Fudaiku Sani Kura, Area Commander of Wudil, who is now a Deputy Commissioner of Police, along with several Divisional Police Officers and senior personnel who were elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The promotion list also included 119 Inspectors advancing to Assistant Superintendent of Police II, 490 Sergeants moving up to Inspectors, 400 Corporals promoted to Sergeants, and 5 Constables who are now Corporals.
Speaking at the event, CP Bakori congratulated the officers and acknowledged that the promotions reflect efforts by the police leadership to improve staff welfare and boost morale.
“This is in line with the IGP’s vision to reward hard work and end promotion delays,” he said.
The police boss encouraged the newly promoted officers to embrace their new roles with seriousness, reminding them that higher ranks come with greater responsibilities.
He also appreciated the families of the officers for their continued support and urged all personnel to stay committed to serving with discipline and integrity.
