The Nigeria Police Force filed an 11-count charge against Akinwande, accusing him of conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms and dangerous weapons, murder, attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, and threats to life. The charges also include possession of multiple international passports and other incriminating items.

The prosecution revealed in court that Akinwande was found in possession of 13 international passports, some bearing foreign identities and valid visas. They added that other members of his gang remain at large.

Items recovered from the suspect included nine AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, and two pistols, according to the prosecutor.

The alleged crimes were committed over several years between December 9, 2010; July 31, 2024; and April 5, 2025.

The prosecution stated that the charges violate Sections 233, 223, and 27(1)(a)(b)(ii) of the Firearms Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (as amended).

Chief Magistrate Tanimola ordered Akinwande’s remand and adjourned the case to September 4, 2025, pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
