Social media activist Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man (VDM), on Tuesday led a candlelight procession in Awka in memory of Mr. Ifesinachi Onyekere, a renowned entrepreneur and founder of Fish Magnet, a popular fish farm in the city.

Onyekere, who was also a business coach, was reportedly shot in his home on July 26. He was taken away by unidentified gunmen in his own vehicle and was later found dead.
The procession passed through major roads in Awka, making a significant stop at Arroma Junction before concluding at Onyekere’s residence in Okpuno.
Speaking during the event, VDM said the gathering was not only to honour Onyekere’s memory but also to draw attention to the growing insecurity in Anambra State and across the country. He urged authorities and relevant stakeholders to urgently address the worsening security challenges in the region.
He also thanked the youths who participated in the march for their peaceful conduct and overwhelming show of solidarity.

Also present at the event was the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who described the procession as a collective expression of grief and a call for action from the youth and residents of the state.
Ikenga confirmed that the police were actively investigating the murder, noting that the vehicle used in the crime had been recovered and that the victim’s family had provided useful information.
“We are optimistic that those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice soon,” he said, adding that the police were on ground during the procession to maintain order and protect participants’ rights.
