Former President Goodluck Jonathan is reportedly considering a return to Aso Rock in 2027 elections.

Fresh reports suggest that former President Goodluck Jonathan may be preparing to run for president in 2027.
According to sources close to the former leader, Jonathan has given a nod to ongoing efforts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to bring him back into the race. Speculation about his return had been growing for months, but recent developments indicate that the idea is gaining ground among top party figures.
A reliable political associate revealed that Jonathan has now agreed to contest under the PDP platform. The source explained that discussions have progressed significantly and that Jonathan has made up his mind to seek another term.
The source also disclosed that Jonathan’s motivation for returning to politics is to tackle the increasing hardship and poverty across the country. He reportedly believes the situation has worsened since the All Progressives Congress (APC) took over power in 2015.
As part of his consultation process, the former president has met with influential political figures across party lines. Notably, he is said to have held a private meeting with former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd.), in Minna, Niger State, over the weekend. During the meeting, Jonathan reportedly expressed his desire to contest for just one term if elected.
Reacting to the development, PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed that the party is open to Jonathan’s return. “Many Nigerians have come to realize the mistake they made in not re-electing Dr. Jonathan,” he said.
As of now, the former president has not made any official statement confirming his intention to run.
Jonathan will simply disgrace himself by contesting against Tinubu. PDP just wanted to use him as a political tool to access power, so that former PDP looters could return to power.
