Three brilliant young Nigerian girls have been awarded fully funded scholarships by the Atiku Abubakar Foundation (AAF) after emerging as global champions at the 2025 TeenEagle English Finals held in London. The beneficiaries, Nafisa Abdullahi, Rukaiya Mohammed Fema, and Khadija Kashim Kalli, earned the prestigious honor following their exceptional performances against competitors from 69 countries.
The AAF, the philanthropic arm of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, announced on August 7, 2025, that the scholarships will cover the girls’ education from their current level through university. According to the foundation, the award is both a reward for their excellence and a commitment to empowering the next generation of Nigerian leaders through education.
Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, a 17-year-old from Yobe State, made headlines globally after clinching the top prize at the TeenEagle finals through her outstanding command of the English language. Her triumph not only placed her at the top among global peers but also inspired national pride and recognition, including from the presidency.
In a statement released by the foundation, AAF described the girls’ win as “a testament to their hard work, resilience, and potential.” It emphasized that the scholarship initiative underscores the foundation’s mission to support quality education, particularly for girls and vulnerable populations.
“When you invest in the education of a girl child, you are invariably investing in the education of a prospective family and community,” Atiku Abubakar was quoted as saying.
The AAF further noted that this gesture aligns with its broader objective of promoting inclusive education and creating equal opportunities for children across Nigeria, regardless of background or financial status.
