Rema’s ‘Rave & Roses (Ultra)’ Becomes First African Album to Hit 3 Billion Spotify Streams
Rema’s Rave & Roses (Ultra) makes history as first African album to hit 3 billion streams.
Driven by Calm Down success, the feat cements Afrobeats’ dominance on global music charts.
Nigerian music star Rema has achieved a major milestone on Spotify, as his debut album Rave & Roses (Ultra) becomes the first African project to surpass 3 billion streams on the platform.

The historic streaming figure is largely driven by the global success of the album’s standout track Calm Down, particularly the remix featuring American pop sensation Selena Gomez, which previously made headlines as the first African song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.
Together, the original and remix versions of Calm Down account for over 2 billion streams, while the remaining 20 tracks on the album collectively contributed less than 1 billion to the overall tally.
South African singer Tyla’s self-titled debut makes her the second most streamed African album on Spotify with over 2 billion streams. Followed are other African albums that have crossed the 1 billion stream mark. This includes albums like Wizkid’s Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition, Burna Boy’s African Giant and Love, Damini, and CKay’s CKay the First.
