Yemi Elesho Opens Up About Discovering His Father’s Identity at Age 10
Yemi Elesho reveals he didn’t know Adewale Elesho was his dad until around age ten.
He shared how childhood curiosity and a movie scene led to discovering his father’s identity.
Comedian and actor Yemi Elesho has shared that he did not know veteran Nollywood actor Adewale Elesho was his biological father until he was around 10 years old.

In an interview with actress Biola Bayo, Yemi recounted that he grew up in Oyo State with his mother, completely unaware of who his father was until much later. “I grew up in Oyo, and till I was 5/10 years old, I didn’t know that Elesho was my dad,” he revealed.
As a child, Yemi said he lived with his mother and often stayed with his grandmother when she was away. Despite his curiosity, he admitted he never had the courage to ask about his father.
“As a teenager, I didn’t have the confidence to ask my mum about my dad. All I know is that I live with my mum, and when she is not around, I stay with my grandma,” he said.
The truth came to light one day while he and his mother were watching a movie together. “One day, we were watching a film and my mum was like, ‘That is your dad,’” Yemi recalled.
Determined to meet his father, he later ran away from home to Lagos. He even left a letter for his mother, asking her not to search for him.
Yemi also took time during the interview to appreciate nightlife influencer Yhemo Lee. He praised him for his generosity and kind gestures, especially when they hang out.
“Shout out to Yhemo Lee. As long as you’re out with him when he’s around, he pays all our bills. After eating, none of us paid, he would clear everything,” Yemi shared.
