Amaechi Claims Peter Obi Won 2023 Presidential Election in Rivers State
Rotimi Amaechi has claimed Peter Obi actually won Rivers State in the 2023 presidential election.
He alleged the official results were altered but said he did not know how.
Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has alleged that Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi secured victory in Rivers State during the 2023 general election, but that the official results were altered.

Speaking during an X Space discussion on Saturday, Amaechi said, “I can agree with you to some extent that Obi won Rivers State. But I don’t know how the results were changed.” His remarks add a new layer to the ongoing debate over the credibility of the February 2023 presidential poll.
According to the official figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner in Rivers State with 231,591 votes. The Labour Party was recorded as coming second with 175,071 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) placed third with 88,468 votes.
Amaechi’s statement is the latest in a series of claims by political figures and election observers who have raised concerns about irregularities in the state’s results. Rivers State was one of the key battlegrounds in the 2023 race, with multiple reports of logistical delays, voter intimidation, and disputes over collation processes.
Neither INEC nor the APC has responded to Amaechi’s latest comments, and the Labour Party has yet to issue a formal reaction. However, his remarks are likely to reignite political debate over the conduct of the elections and the transparency of result collation.
