Gunmen Kidnap Woman and Daughter, Injure Teen Boy in Kano

Gunmen attacked a Kano village, abducting a woman and her teenage daughter and injuring a boy.

The incident in Tudun Wada left residents fearful and concerned about growing insecurity.

A 50-year-old woman and her teenage daughter have been abducted by armed men in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State. The attackers also shot and injured a 13-year-old boy during the incident.

Reports from security analyst Zagazola on Saturday indicated that the attack took place in the early hours of Thursday, August 8, at Yarmariya village. The gunmen, said to be heavily armed, reportedly arrived at the home of Alhaji Audu Shehu at about 1:45 a.m. They forcefully took his wife, identified as Mrs. Laure Audu, along with their 15-year-old daughter, Miss Basira Audu. In the process, they opened fire on his son, Ibrahim Audu, hitting him in the left leg.

Local residents said the incident caused panic in the community, with many fearful for their safety. Police officers from the Tudun Wada Division quickly responded to a distress call and moved the injured boy to the General Hospital in Tudun Wada, where he is currently receiving medical care.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed the abduction, stating that a manhunt for the suspects has begun. According to the police, “efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the kidnapped victims and bring the attackers to justice.”
