Capt. Ogoyi and her co-pilot, Flight Officer Ivan Oloba, were suspended by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for alleged safety violations linked to the altercation. The regulatory body also placed a six-month domestic flight ban on K1.

In a written statement cited by The Will, Capt. Ogoyi explained that boarding for Flight VK201 began at 8:10 a.m. She said K1 approached the aircraft about five minutes later, carrying a gold flask.

According to her, ground staff, following standard security procedures, requested to inspect the contents of the flask. The musician reportedly refused, was observed drinking from it, and was suspected to be consuming alcohol which is prohibited on Nigerian flights.

“When asked to allow inspection, he refused, saying, ‘Do you know who I am? You have no right to tell me to open my flask,’” Ogoyi stated.

She added that security personnel at the aircraft’s entrance repeated the instruction, but the singer allegedly became confrontational, causing delays in boarding.

“To manage the situation, I left the cockpit to engage him amicably. Without warning, he poured the contents of the flask on me, on security personnel, and on some nearby passengers,” she recounted.

Airport security officers intervened, and the Head of Security advised that K1 should not be allowed to board. Ogoyi said she agreed with the decision, prioritizing the safety and comfort of passengers and crew.

“After the aircraft doors were shut, I noticed Mr. Ayinde still lingering near the aircraft, obstructing movement. I made a public announcement to inform passengers about the delay while security worked to clear him from the area. Once he was out of sight, I began taxiing and departed for Lagos at about 8:50 a.m.,” she wrote.

The NCAA’s action against the pilots and the Fuji star has drawn attention in the aviation and entertainment sectors, with regulators stressing the need to follow safety rules and maintain professional conduct at all times.
