Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has revealed that she recently froze her eggs, saying the decision was made as a precaution in case she chooses to have more children in the future.
In a candid interview with Zeze Mills, the award-winning singer and mother of one admitted she wished she had done it earlier. She encouraged women in their 30s to take control of their fertility by freezing their eggs.“Having my first child in my 30s was beautiful because I was more financially and emotionally stable,” she said.
She continued, “One advice I will give to women in their 30s is whether you wanna have children or not, egg freeze. I wish I did it earlier. But I’ve done it now. I don’t know if I want more kids but in case I do, I’ve done that (frozen my egg) just to have that insurance,” she said.
Savage stressed that women could wake up one day and realize their egg reserve is depleted, making it harder to have children when they decide to. She concluded by saying in third person that she is now a big advocate for egg freezing.
