Inibehe Effiong Calls for K1 De Ultimate’s Arrest, Says Friendship With Tinubu Influenced Case
Inibehe Effiong calls for K1 De Ultimate’s arrest over airline clash, rejecting apology as enough.
He links the singer’s boldness to political ties and Nigeria’s culture of impunity.
Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has demanded the arrest and prosecution of Fuji music legend King Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate or KWAM1, over his recent altercation with airline officials.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Effiong alleged that the matter had been treated differently because of KWAM1’s close relationship with President Bola Tinubu. He dismissed the singer’s apology, insisting that committing a crime requires legal accountability, not public remorse.
He argued that every inmate in Nigerian custodial centers would gladly apologize if it meant regaining their freedom. Drawing a comparison, he said even convicted kidnapper Evans had apologized for his crimes, and if apologies were now grounds for release, the same standard should be applied to everyone.
He criticised comments by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who reportedly said “to err is human,” arguing that this logic would make apologies a national policy for avoiding punishment.
Effiong further stated that KWAM1’s alleged audacity was linked to his political connections and the culture of impunity in Nigeria. He referenced an audio clip circulating online in which the singer allegedly threatened the airline owner, suggesting that such boldness comes from being “connected to the high and mighty.”
