Katsina village head arrested for allegedly aiding bandits in kidnappings and cattle theft.
Authorities say he confessed to involvement in raids that netted millions in ransom payments.
Security forces have taken into custody the Village Head of Walawa, located in Kankiya Local Government Area of Katsina State, over allegations of serving as an informant to armed bandits.
The development was made public on Wednesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X, accompanied by a video of the suspect’s interview. The village head, identified as Salisu Abdullahi, is said to have admitted to assisting bandits in the abduction of 17 residents and the theft of cattle in Walawa. He reportedly mentioned two alleged accomplices, Alkali Tanimu and Manu, both from Jobawa community near Walawa.
According to the report, Abdullahi also confessed to taking part in another raid in Mai Danko, during which 16 people and livestock were seized. He revealed that the first abduction brought in ₦12 million in ransom, from which he personally received ₦50,000.
Security sources confirmed that the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue to identify other individuals connected to the crimes.
