Speaking to State House correspondents after meeting President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Soludo a former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor said his endorsement was beyond political affiliations, stressing that the reforms were critical to placing Nigeria back on a sustainable growth trajectory.

“The President is in high spirits, hale and hearty. President Tinubu is my friend of 22 years, and you don’t deny your friend,” Soludo said. “I support him and commend his bold steps, especially in the economy and structural reforms. I have said several times we’re taking the right steps.”

The governor also discussed his administration’s efforts to address insecurity in Anambra, noting that the state is using both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies. “The kinetic involves guns and the usual. The non-kinetic focuses on youths, empowerment, and job creation,” he explained.

According to the presidency, the meeting centered on deepening economic reforms, improving security, and creating more opportunities for social and human capital development. President Tinubu reaffirmed his readiness to work with all state governments committed to meaningful transformation, emphasizing that Nigeria’s progress depends on unity of purpose and shared responsibility.

In a statement on X, Tinubu said, “We share a firm belief that all who profess progressivism must work together to deepen our democracy, strengthen security, and transform our economy. We discussed the bold reforms underway, the need to stay the course, and the importance of tackling insecurity through both decisive action and inclusive opportunities for our teeming youth. Our administration will continue to partner with every state that is serious about human, social, and economic development.”

This show of solidarity follows Tinubu’s earlier visit to Anambra in May 2025 to commission major state projects executed under Soludo’s administration, including the new Anambra State Government House, Solution Fun City, and the new Governor’s Lodge. That visit marked Tinubu’s first official trip to the state since taking office in May 2023.
