Speaking at a stakeholders’ consultative meeting on Thursday at the Parry Osayande Auditorium in Abuja, PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, urged states to protect their recruitment quotas and prevent any attempt to hijack the process.

In a statement issued by PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the commission reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the exercise. Argungu warned against the sale of recruitment slots and stressed that merit and fairness would remain the guiding principles. He said the commission is determined to eliminate corruption in the process and foster healthy competition with an equitable spread of opportunities.

Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (rtd), Commissioner representing the Judiciary, noted that the PSC was established to uphold fairness and would depend on state governments to verify candidates’ origins.

Also speaking, retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Commissioner representing the Police, commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the recruitment and pledged to ensure only the most qualified Nigerian youths are selected.

PSC Secretary, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, revealed plans to open state offices for closer oversight and urged states to support the initiative. The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold regular consultations, as state representatives pledged their full cooperation.
