Passengers Feared Dead as Bus Falls Into River From Collapsed Taraba Bridge

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Sunday, August 17, 2025, when an Adamawa Express bus plunged into the Namnai River in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State while attempting to cross a collapsed bridge.

Eyewitnesses said the bus, which was heading towards Taraba, lost balance at a broken section of the Namnai Bridge and tumbled into the river. The bridge, which caved in over a year ago, has remained unrepaired despite repeated concerns from residents and travelers.

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by commuters along the route. “We have lost many lives and properties here because of government’s neglect. This tragedy shows how urgent the repair of this bridge is,” a local resident lamented.
